Make your italian valentine special, 2018

February 11, 2018

Do you smell that? It’s the fresh perfume of red roses just picked up from the flower shop, the sweet sniff of the Perugina’s chocolate box and the strong, sour whiff of the marker ready to fill a love card with the words “I love you”. It’s Valentine’s Day! Most people wanna make it memorable and unforgettable but don’t exactly know how. But don’t worry loverbirds, I got that covered for ya.

When it comes to love, passion and cuddles  the “eternal city” is always the best option. As a matter of fact, every year hundreds of cute, little couples from all over the world choose the Italian capital as the destination of their romantic trips not only for its elegance and charm but also and especially for the many activities that this wonderful metropolis has to offer.

You’d be surprised how many things a duo can do on this fine and original day, starting from a nice and relaxing afternoon in a luxurious SPA. To tell the truth, most pairs prefer spending their special day enjoying a good massage or being surrounded by the warm bubbles of a Whirpool.  After all, who can blame them? Especially if you know where to go. As it is, near Rome you can find several delux fitness or wellness centers well equipped and furnished with thermal baths in order to give you the best experience ever.

The most notorious is definetely QC Termeroma (Fiumicino) but there are others all over the city such as SPA Trilussa Palace Hotel or Alta Care Beauty SPA. However, others usually go for a romantic walk down the lovely paths of the gorgeous Giardino degli Aranci or the trails of the magical Villa Borghese. Nothing’s better than strolling side by side through colourful flowers and tweeting birds. But I think that the best place to be on Valentine’s Day is at the Gianicolo.

The picturesque and breath-taking view overlooking the entire city together with the beautiful landscape create the ideal atmosphere to be with your loved one. Useful tip: go at sunset! Makes everything better.

And last but not least a classic; a nice, intimate dinner. The capital has many different cute restaurants ready to serve you delicious food and a whole lot of love!

My favourite is definetely ReCafè. Right on Piazza Augusto Imperatore (Via del Corso) this fancy, sophisticated restaurant and Lounge Bar is awesome for an exquisite, tasty meal or a glass of fine wine to end the night. My second choice is VyTA Enoteca Regionale del Lazio (Via Frattina) where it’s possible to enjoy the best dishes and products of our beloved region Lazio.

And third, for the pizza lovers, I would  absolutely recommend Pizzeria Margherita (Via delle Coppelle) where a huge variety of different pizzas  awaits you. Make sure to reserve a table though!

As you can see, these listed above are all the usual and typical things that lovers do on Valentine’s Day. But you guys are tourists, so I got some other great ideas for you! So, let’s get to the good stuff now. My first (and super original) choice is sure to be the Red Bus Tour. Yep, if you thought red buses only existed in London, you were wrong. As a matter of fact, thanks to this very cool and unique trasportation you’ll have the chance to spend the night with your sweet half on board of a huge, red bus  that will drive you around the most famous, central streets of Rome.

There’s more! Other than this tender trip in the very heart of the city, the service also includes a yummy, welcoming appetizer with fizzy champagne and tasty dishes together with a refined, mouth-watering sit-down dinner with candles, roses, wine and romantic music. Plus, you’ll even get a cute photograph to immortalize your favourite moments.

But If you guys prefer a more classy and sassy vehicle and wanna feel like real superstars  you totally can. Actually, the same tour can also be done on board of a very charming limousine that will drive you through the coolest places of the metropolis just like VIPs. Inside, you’ll have the chance to toast with fresh drinks, listen to your favourite music and take awesome pictures while looking at the city from a completely different perspective. You can even choose your very own model of car from the Lincoln to the Hummer all the way to the most requested limo: the Pink one, perfect for your amorous evening. The tour lasts about 2 hours; arrivals and departures from the Colosseum. However, what’s Valentine’s Day without a little bit of music?

If you like jazz parties and you’re ready to shake it up then you might wanna check this one out. Grecco Enjoy Bar hosts a lovely, pinky event called “Love, Jazz & Drink” that will be held from 6:00 PM on Via Gregorio VII 237. The night will include not only a delicious happy hour accompanied by a special drink but also and specially a live jazz show perfomanced at 8:00 PM. Could be a chance to go back to the Roaring 20s and hit the dancefloor with your soul mate. Plus, free entrance!

Well, have I given you the answer to the tormented question: “what are we gonna do on February 14th?”. I’ll leave you to that. In the meantime…Happy Valentine’s Day!
